The State Senate has approved a measure putting the soil conservation and state parks sales tax on the ballot next year. The proposal will extend the tax another ten years. Some big-city lawmakers oppose the idea because the program does not provide money to fight erosion in urban areas. But sponsor David Klindt, from Bethany in northwest Missouri, thinks they’re overlooking the benefits for everybody that agriculture has. If the House approves the proposal, the tenth-of-a-cent sales tax will be up for renewal next year. The bill calls for it to be extended for ten more years.
