A legislative committee meets again Tuesday evening, attempting to craft a new funding formula for schools even as a lawsuit against the current formula works its way through the courts. Joint Education Committee Chairman, Senator Charlie Shields of St. Joseph, says the committee must work without regard to the lawsuit. And, he’s not sure the Legislature will be able to satisfy the issued raised in the lawsuit. The court rejected a request to suspend legal action until after the legislative session to see if the legislature addresses the concerns of the school districts that filed the lawsuit.
