Governor Matt Blunt has announced his nominee to be the next Director of the State Health Department. She’s Julie Eckstein, a 41-year-old businesswoman from St. Peters. Eckstein is president and owner of her own online information company. She also serves as executive director of the Healthy Communities St. Charles program. In that capacity, Eckstein has worked with committees dealing with such issues as alcohol and tobacco use, communicable diseases, and immunization. The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
