Senator Kit Bond is pushing a proposal to combat Alzheimer’s Disease. He wants legislation passed that would double federal funding for research into the disease, give tax breaks to caregivers, and provide incentives to people purchasing long-term care insurance. An estimated four million Americans are believed to be afflicted with Alzheimer’s, and Bond says the disease frequency seems to increase in older populations. Bond says he has widespread, bi-partisan support for his measure and believes it will pass this year.
