Federal prosecutors say former Kansas City pharmacist Robert Courtney is violating his agreement not to appeal his sentence, so they’re planning to seek an even longer sentence for him. Courtney’s in prison for 30 years for diluting cancer-fighting drugs. He had pleaded guilty. In return, prosecutors limited his sentence to 30 years. Since then, however, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled federal sentencing guidelines used in his case were unconstitutional. The case has been sent back to the federal appeals court. Federal prosecutors say Courtney violated his plea agreement by challenging the sentencing standards before the U.S. Supreme Court.
