A crowd of over 22,000 will be expected at the Savvis Center in St. Louis for Saturday’s undisputed welterweight title fight between St. Louis native Cory Spinks and challenger Zab Judah. At a press conference Thursday afternoon, it was announced that the fight will be a sell-out. It’s believed that it will break attendance records for a fight held in an arena. The previous record was Mike Tyson versus Michael Spinks—Cory Spinks’ uncle—at the Atlantic City Convention Center on June 28, 1988. The attendance for that fight was 21,785. Saturday’s fight will be a re-match between Spinks and Judah, who met last April, with Spinks winning it by unanimous decision. It was Spinks’ first title defense after beating Ricardo Mayorga for the undisputed title in December of 2003. Spinks enters Saturday’s fight with a record of 34-2 with 11 knockouts. It will be his first fight in St. Louis in over three years. Judah, who hails from Brooklyn, NY, comes into the bout with a record of 32-2 with 23 knockouts.
