The St. Louis Cardinals signed two people largely responsible for the team’s success over the past few years. President/General Manager Walt Jocketty and manager Tony LaRussa agreed to three-year contract extensions on Wednesday. Terms of the two deals were not released, but according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Jocketty will earn around $1-million per year and LaRussa will be paid around $2.5-million per season. Jocketty was named GM in 1994 and he hired LaRussa before the 1996 season. In that time, the Cardinals have gone to the playoffs five times, including their trip to the 2004 World Series.
