The bearded man and the small girl walked into the sculptor’s studio one day in the 1850’s so she could see the famous Clark Mills at work. She was fascinated. Mills gave her bucket of potter’s clay and told her to go into the next room and make something. She was back in an hour, with the clay model of the head of an indian.
It was the first of many works which would lead her to become one of the nation’s most famous sculptresses. But life was more than a bucket of clay for Vinnie Ream.
