An Independence man is being charged with faking a hate crime. Police say 22-year-old Floyd Elliot claimed attackers had carved a homosexual slur onto his forehead. But police noticed the letters were backwards – as if it had been done in a mirror. Police say he carved the letters into his forehead himself to get more police attention to his neighborhood.
