You only have until this Friday to take advantage of a state tax break that helps Missourians to deal with the high costs of higher education. The Missouri Savings for Tuition program – MOST – allows Missourians to put aside money for higher education, for themselves or for their children. Mary Lehman, Program Director of Missouri MOST, says the state tax breaks can be worth up to $8,000 per taxpayer for 2004. While a contribution can be made at any time, those contributions must be made by this Friday – the last day of the year – to qualify for a 2004 state income tax deduction. You can do the paperwork online by logging onto www.missourimost.org.
