The SMS Bears are off to their best start in six years after topping Miami (Oh.) 69-63 at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield. Miami was able to make 51 percent of their shots, but the Bears forced 23 turnovers. Guard Anthony Shavies helped spread the points around by dishing out eight assists and scoring seven points. Tamarr Maclin led SMS with 14 points. SMS will travel to Norman, Oklahoma to face the Sooners on Thursday.
