After Chris Chandler’s six-interception performance last week, Rams head coach Mike Martz said that he still had confidence in the 39-year old backup quarterback. That confidence lasted just six passes, as St. Louis fell to Arizona 31-7 at Sun Devil Stadium. Chandler, who is filling in for an injured Marc Bulger, started yesterday’s game 1-for-6 with a one yard passing and an interception. Martz inserted Jamie Martin, who was re-signed two weeks ago. Martin was 16-of-30 for 188 yards, but he was unable to lead them any points. The Rams’ only points of the day were the result of Leonard Little’s fumble recovery, which he took 61 yards for a touchdown. That cut the Cardinals’ lead to 17-7, but that’s as close as the Rams got the rest of the game. Josh McCown hit Larry Fitzgerald on a four-yard strike in the third quarter and McCown ran one in from nine yards in the fourth, for the game’s final score. St. Louis is now 6-8 on the season, but are still just a game behind Seattle for first in the NFC West. Bulger is expected to be back in action as the Rams host the Eagles next Monday night.
