Any evidence of defense was well hidden in Nashville last night as the Chiefs topped the Titans 49-38. The game was close, throughout, and the score was tied at 28-28 going into the fourth quarter. Larry Johnson broke that tie with a 41-yard touchdown run to cap a six-play, 81-yard drive with 4:49 to go in the game. Seconds later, linebacker Kawika Mitchell picked up a fumble and ran 39 yards for another Chiefs’ touchdown. Running back Larry Johnson had his second-straight 100-yard game, but rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Eddie Kennison caught just two passes, but both were touchdowns, while Trent Green finished with 224 yards in the air and three TD strikes. Tight end Tony Gonzalez moved past former Mizzou and San Diego Charger receiver Kellen Winslow for third in the career receptions list for tight ends. He has 542. The Chiefs defense was torched by Titans’ QB Billy Volek, who passed for 426 yards. The Chiefs improved to 5-8, while the Titans dropped to 4-9.
