On Tuesday the St. Louis Cardinals declined to offer free agent pitcher Woody Williams arbitration and on Wednesday he left. Williams agreed to a two-year deal with the Padres, which will pay him a minimum $3.5 million in 2005. Williams was 11-8 with a 4.18 ERA in 2005. Despite a slow start, Williams won 10 of his last 13 decisions and was the Game 1 starter in the NLDS, NLCS and the World Series.
