The appointment of a new Chief Information Officer for the state could be a sign of the Governor-elect’s desire to make state government more efficient and a sign to some workers to get their act together. Matt Blunt has tapped Deputy Secretary of State Dan Ross for the post – a consolidation of the information technology and director of information services positions in state government. Ross says some state workers might be concerned for their jobs. Senate Administrator Michael Keathley has been nominated to be commissioner of the Office of Administration. Keathley likens running state government to running a business, and he says the state has not used the power its government has to be more efficient. Keathley’s appointment is subject to State Senate approval. Ross’s is by executive order and doesn’t have to be approved by the Legislature.
