In retail circles, this Friday is called Black Friday because it’s the day that will put many stores in the black for the year. In this traditional start of the holiday shopping season, Missouri Retailers Association President Dave Overfelt says it might actually be bigger for people watching how retailers are doing. Overfelt says sales are expected to increase by a modest gain of about four-and-a-half percent compared to the holiday shopping season of a year ago. But he believes it could be even better than that, based on what he saw last weekend in stores, and he plans to be out at stores again to see how it is actually going.
