Two of Missouri’s members of Congress on the agriculture committees back the idea of a Missourian to become part of President Bush’s cabinet. Missouri Farm Bureau President Charlie Kruse could be considered for Secretary of Agriculture. Senator Jim Talent is on the Senate Agriculture Committee. He says Kruse brings all of the qualities to the table that Talent believes the position demands. And, Northwest Missouri Congressman Sam Graves, who sits on the House Agriculture Committee, says Kruse would help balance out what he sees as a southern influence on the House and Senate Agriculture Committees. So far, Kruse has not commented.
