Two major gas utilities have notified the Public Service Commission that they will raise their natural gas rates. PSC Spokesman Kevin Kelly says the average Missouri Gas Energy customer will pay $110 more to heat a home this winter. The average AmerenUE customer will pay $81 more. MGE has more than half a million customers. Ameren has more than 100,000. Kelly says this is the beginning of notices prior to the winter heating season of November through March. Kelly says some natural gas companies will be lowering rates, because they anticipated higher wholesale supplier rates than actually occurred.
