Officials with the State Department of Natural Resources have given Governor Bob Holden and the media a sneak peek of DNR’s new Jefferson City headquarters building. The Lewis and Clark State Office Building is an environmentally friendly “green building” that features such things as a high-efficiency lighting system with sensors that will cut energy costs while improving employee work conditions. The Governor says this could be the start of a new trend in Missouri and spread to other State departments and teh private sector, as well. The building, which will be home to several hundred employees, is expected to open next month or in December. It comes with a price tag of $17-Million. The Governor expects this “green building” to cut back, by about half, on the energy costs of the typical State office building.
