The planning hospitals do under homeland security requirements might come in handy this winter – if the flu vaccine shortage leads to heavy use of emergency rooms. Missouri Hospital Association spokesman Dwight Fine says says planning for disaster is similar to planning for a big flu season. He says plans are being developed to handle bed and staffing shortages. He says hospitals are hoping to get innoculations for staff members so they’ll be healthy enough to help sick people.
