Missouri’s Senate and gubernatorial election campaigns have heard plenty of talk of how we could deal with the high cost of prescription drugs by allowing for the re-importation of drugs from Canada. Louise Binder, with Canada’s Best Medicines Coalition, says Missourians and other Americans are wrong to think this is the cure for what ails us. She says Canada can handle individuals who cross the border to buy prescription drugs, but it cannot handle huge amounts of drugs. Binder says Canadians would like to help out their neighbors, but she says there is not enough of a supply of drugs in Canada to deal with U.S. needs.
