A sure victory turned into defeat for the Chiefs on Sunday. Byron Leftwich threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Cortez Hankton with 48 seconds left, giving the Jacksonville Jaguars a 22-16 win. With his team trailing 14-10 in the fourth quarter, Trent Green was nearly sacked, but at the last moment completed a shovel pass to Priest Holmes, who turned upfield and turned the desperation heave into a 28-yard touchdown pass. But Lawrence Tynes missed the extra point, leaving the score 16-14. Tynes later got a shot at redemption after a defensive stand by the Chiefs, but missed a 42-yard field goal attempt. Leftwich led the Jaguars on an eight-play, 67 yard drive, and capped it with the game-winning touchdown. Leftwich finished 24-36 for 298 yards and two touchdowns. Green went 23-33 for 315 yards and two touchdowns. Johnnie Morton caught seven passes for 111 yards. Jacksonville’s defense held Holmes to just 75 yards on 19 carries. The loss drops the Chiefs to 1-4 on the season.
