The Cardinals and Dodgers will resume their best-of-five series tonight in St. Louis. The Redbirds took Game 1 with an 8-3 win on Tuesday afternoon. For TV purposes only three games were played on Tuesday and Wednesday, leaving the Cardinals and Dodgers idle yesterday. While waiting a day may be frustrating to some, manager Tony LaRussa said having a day off between games is better than being off for the rest of the winter, “There isn’t anything in the post season that’s difficult—flying all night, playing the next afternoon. I mean, everybody’s so excited to be in it and it’s the same for both of us (Cardinals and Dodgers).” In Tuesday’s win, LaRussa used relievers Ray King, Kiko Calero and Jason Isringhausen and the skipper is glad to have the extra day to get them rested, “They’ll be fresh as they can be on Thursday night.” Jason Marquis will get the start for St. Louis while Jeff Weaver gets the start for L.A.
