Chiefs’ running back Priest Holmes was named the AFC’s offensive player of the week Tuesday after rushing for 125 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-24 win over the Ravens Monday night. Baltimore had gone an NFL high nine games without allowing a 100-yard rusher until Holmes’ performance, It’s the fifth times Holmes has won the award and the fourth time he’s done it with the Chiefs—he was named the AFC’s offensive player of the week with the Ravens in 1997…. Jason Baker has been cut by the Chiefs for the second time this season. He was released yesterday after returning for two weeks while Steve Cheek recovered from a calf injury. Baker averaged 37.8 yards per punt this season. Cheek is expected to be ready to play when the Chiefs return to action on October 17 against the Jaguars. Kansas City has a bye this week.
