It’s October and time for Missourians to start thinking about flu shots. Flu season will soon be upon us and health officials are advising Missourians to think about flu vaccinations. Sue Denny with the State Health Department suggests everyone over the age of 65 and youngsters between 6 and 23 months of age be vaccinated. In addition, anyone with a chronic illness – from heart disease to diabetes to asthma to cystic fibrosis – should be vaccinated. The same goes for any woman who believes she might become pregnant sometime during the flu season. Then, there are health care workers, who are among the at-risk because of the people with whom they come into contact. Flu shots usually cost between 15 and 20 dollars each. Denny says many insurance companies cover that cost.
