The Royals ruined another impressive outing by rookie pitcher Zack Greinke to lose to the Indians 6-1. Greinke held Cleveland in check through seven innings by holding them to four hits, two walks and no runs. Greinke was pulled after the seventh inning by manager Tony Pena because he had reached his pre-determined pitch limit of 100. “I will not push this kid to throw more than a hundred pitches…I don’t need this kid to go out and just blow his arm out.” But it did result in a blown lead. D.J. Carrasco allowed two runs in the eighth to erase David DeJesus’ solo homer in the sixth to give Kansas City the lead. Jeremy Affeldt was tagged for four runs in the ninth inning to seal the deal for Cleveland.
