A controversy has erupted in the St. Louis Circuit Court over the use of the judges’ signature stamps. Circuit Clerk of Court Mariano Favazza had fired clerk Jean Whitby for allegedly using a judge’s stamp without authority. Whitby appealed the firing and was reinstated. Favazza has appealed that decision, but has also taken her case directly to the judges. Favazza has urged the court’s 31 judges to consider establishing a policy to control the use of the stamps before they become abused, perhaps for financial reasons.
