Canada Goose hunting season opens up in the northern two-thirds of the state this weekend – next weekend for the southern one-third. Jim Low with the State Conservation Department says the key to success is preparation. Low says this season is designed to help reduce the numbers of the resident Canada geese in the state. He says about 65,000 geese live year-round in the state, up from a year ago. Low says whether that is too many depends on your perspective. He says that perspective is usually driven by how much damage the geese are doing to your property.
