Staying on message. With Election Day less than six weeks away, the polls show Missouri’s race for Governor is a virtual dead heat. Republican Matt Blunt leads in the rural areas of the state, while Democrat Claire McCaskill has the lead in the cities. Blunt has been calling for change, saying McCaskill’s ideas are too closely linked to those of the current administration. And, he does not plan to change his message to appeal to more voters in urban parts of Missouri. Blunt says the debates could play a major role in determining the outcome of the November vote. The two campaigns are still working out the details of the debate schedule.
