The only member of the General Assembly serving in Iraq is back home in Missouri … but only for a short time. In Iraq, his job is to locate and disarm bombs. Here in Missouri, life is a little more normal for State Representative Jim Avery of Crestwood, who’s serving in the National Guard’s 1140th Engineering Battalion. He’s back home on a two-week leave, hoping to catch up on some of those normal things he doesn’t get to do in Iraq. Avery will take in the St. Louis Rams’ game this weekend and try to catch a couple of Cardinals games before heading back to the war on October 3rd. He expects to be back in Missouri early in the new year for the next session of the General Assembly which begins in January.
