The new Director of the State Transportation Department makes his first formal visit to the State Capitol in Jefferson City after taking over the job Wednesday. Pete Rahn spoke with lawmakers on the Joint Interim Committee on Transportation Oversight. He served as the New Mexico Secretary of Transportation for eight years, but was in the private sector for the last couple of years. Rahn says he’s looking forward to getting back into public transportation. Rahn says he’ll look for every penny to save that he can, but he says it’s going to take more resources to get Missouri’s transportation system up to speed. Rahn takes over after embattled former Transportation Director Henry Hungerbeeler who resigned earlier this year. Dave Snider served as interim Director since March.
