A player lockout may prevent the 2004-2005 NHL season from happening, but that didn’t keep the Blues and defenseman Barrett Jackman from agreeing to a three-year contract yesterday. Jackman played in just 15 games in 2003-2004 because of a shoulder injury, but his run as the NHL’s rookie of the year in 2002-2003 certainly gives the Blues hope that he’ll produce for years to come. The NHL’s labor contract expires tomorrow and there aren’t any indications that a lockout will be prevented before then.
