The Royals set franchise records for most runs in a game, most runs in a doubleheader and most hits (26) in a game. Kansas City scored 11 runs in the third inning, and tied an American League record by having 13 men in a row reach base. Every starter had at least one hit, one run and one RBI. Eight starters had at least two RBI. Joe Randa tied a club record with six hits and tied a major league record by scoring six runs. Angel Berroa drove in five runs. Alberto Castillo had a career-high four RBI. David DeJesus, Calvin Pickering and Dee Brown each contributed three RBI.
