Coming up on the third anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks and Missouri’s top man on homeland security offers his view on progress made. Missouri Homeland Security Director Tim Daniel says some of the steps taken by the federal government since the terrorist attacks of three years ago have been very positive. And he points to the Transportation Security Agency and the better screening of passengers as another positive development. But Daniel says we’re lacking in how much has been put into local efforts, an area more likely, he believes, to prevent and to respond to an attack. Daniel says there’s a lot of work yet to be done in communication interoperability – the ability of government agencies to talk to each other in crisis situations. He feels the state has done an above average job in homeland security efforts but Daniels says the country is not adequately prepared to prevent another terrorist attack.
