The National Federation of Independent Business, one of the groups taking part in the just concluded Republican National Convention in New York City, is praising a Missouri Senator for his effort to make it easier for small businesses to provide health care coverage to their employees. NFIB President and Chief Executive Officer Jack Faris says Senator Jim Talent has done a lot of work to try to make this happen. Faris, who attended Republican National Convention in New York City, says this good idea put forward by Talent is stuck in the Senate and he’s hoping for the logjam to break. The association health plan idea would allow similar groups or trade associations to band together to purchase health insurance at more competetive prices. Talent’s legislation, supported strongly by President Bush, has cleared the House but is stalled in the Senate.
