It wasn’t pretty, but the SMS Bears opened the 2004 football season with a 31-26 win over Drake. Running back Cody Pratt rushed 34 times for 217 yards and two touchdowns. The Bears found the endzone twice in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, but had to hold off a late Drake charge to secure the win…..Southeast Missouri State gave up 554 yards in a 42-3 loss to Southern Illinois. The Salukis racked up 320 rushing yards, and scored five touchdowns on the ground. Southeast’s only points came on a 38-yard field goal from Derek Kutz in the first quarter.
