The St. Louis Rams wrapped up the preseason with a 28-24 loss to the Oakland Raiders. Starting quarterback Marc Bulger played just one series, completing all three passes for 66 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown to Marshall Faulk. Jeff Smoker played the entire second half. He finished 10-of-15 for 105 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Lamar Gorder saw his first major action since having ankle surgery. Gordon carried the ball 22 times, picking up 77 yards and a touchdown. The Raiders scored a touchdown with :38 left to secure the win.
