The Kansas City Wizards had a chance to take over sole possession of first place in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference last night, but they couldn’t find a way to beat last-place Chicago. The Josh Wolff and Justin Mapp traded goals as the Wizards and Fire played to a 1-1 tie at the end of the first half. It stayed 1-1 until Andy Williams broke the tie with a goal in the 67th minute. Four minutes later Craig Capano scored to make it 3-1. The Wizards are 10-8-5 on the season and have 35 points. They’re tied with Los Angeles for the best mark in the Conference and league.
