Four former St. Louis mayors were not allowed to speak at aBoard of Aldermen hearing over proposals to change the city government. Thefour came unannounced to the hearing yesterday (Tuesday). Aldermen werediscussing proposals on the November 2 ballots that call for reducing thenumber of aldermen and changing the city’s charter. The executive directorof Advance St. Louis, which is the group asking for the changes, was invitedto the meeting. Instead, the past four mayors of St. Louis came to themeeting. Jim Conway, Vincent Schoemehl Junior, Freeman Bosely Junior, andClarence Harmon all sit on the board for Advance St. Louis. One aldermancalled for the four to be heard, but no one from the committee seconded themotion.
