The Chiefs high flying offense will need to fill a vacancy pronto. Marc Boerigter, who was slated to be their #3 wide receiver, may miss the entire season with a knee injury. He hurt his right knee in a non-contact play in the Chiefs’ 21-19 loss to the Browns Saturday night. Boerigter will have surgery today and doctors will then learn whether or not he has a torn ACL. Doctors aren’t sure when he’ll be back, but Vermeil said .no word on when he’ll be back, but Dick Vermeil thinks he may be lost for the season. With Johnnie Morton still on the mend with a sore Achilles tendon, the Chiefs may try to find a wide receiver elsewhere. The most obvious choice is Keenan McCardell, who’s currently holding out with the Buccaneers. After Saturday’s loss, Vermeil wasn’t sure how the team would be able to bring him in. “It’s money. That’s where it is. We brought McCardell in before. That’s when we signed Johnnie Morton. He’s a good receiver – a ball control type guy who can catch the hell out of the ball,” Vermeil said, “But we’re going to have salary cap problems now with our injured reserve. The dollars are almost gone already and the season hasn’t even started. I don’t think that’s in the works.” If the Chiefs decide to fill the position from within, the most likely candidates are Chris Horn, Samie Parker and Richard Smith.
