Shandria Brown runs the third leg for the Bahamas’ women 4×100-meters team, but there will be plenty of people in central Missouri cheering for her. Brown, who is a track star for Lincoln University in Jefferson City, will try to help her team win gold in the finals in Athens later on today. Brown was the NCAA Division-II national champ this year in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and earned another national title as Lincoln’s women won the team championship. The Bahamas, which won gold in the event in 2000, finished second in their heat and sixth overall Thursday.
