Law enforcement officers in St. Louis County saysuspected prostitutes have been using an Internet database to keep track of undercover police officers. The commander of the St. Louis County vice squad says his own cell phone number was listed in the database. He hasused it once to try to catch a prostitution suspect. Police say two women from Springfield have been using Internet technology to advertise their business and screen their customers. Their information is available only toprostitutes who can get others to vouch for them. Police say the database doesn’t affect their work too much because they routinely change the kind of information the women were collecting.
