A light sentence for a fatal drunk-driving crash angers the friends of family of the person killed in the accident.
38-year-old Arvis Dunbar of Ferguson will likely not serve any prison time if he successfully completes a 120-day alcohol treatment program. St. Louis Circuit Judge Lisa Van Amburg sentenced Dunbar to concurrent five-and-seven year prison sentences that can be avoided by completing treatment. Dunbar earlier pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the November, 2002 accident. Dunbar had been drinking when he got behind the wheel and drove the wrong way on I-55, crashing into a car driven by 22-year-old Joshua Standeford of Oakville. Standeford was killed. A passenger, 22-year-old Donald Thurmond the Second of St. Louis, suffered injuries in the wreck.
