It’s been three years since Scott Rolen had a night like this. Rolen committed two errors as the Cardinals lost to the Pirates 3-2 in 10 innings. Reggie Sanders hit a solo home run in the ninth to tie the game at two. Pittsburgh responded by loading the bases in the 10th. Rolen couldn’t handle a sharp grounder by Jose Batista, which allowed the winning run to score. Both starting pitchers threw tremendous ballgames. Jason Marquis went eight innings and gave up two runs on five hits. Pirates hurler Oliver Perez allowed just one unearned run in seven innings and struck out 10 batters. The Cardinals have lost two games in a row for the first time since July 23-24.
