The Cardinals have swept the Cincinnati Reds twice this season. They came up just short of a third. Sean Casey drove in three runs, and the Reds held off the Cards in the ninth in a 5-4 Cincinnati win. Scott Rolen belted his 29th home run of the season for St. Louis. Trailing 5-2 going to the ninth, the Cards scored twice in the inning, but left the potential tying and winning runs on base. Woody Williams struggled early, giving up four runs in the first two innings. Wednesday’s loss was Williams’ first defeat since June 8. It was also his first loss at Busch Stadium since May 22.
