US troops could be coming home from overseas locations to new assignments stateside. But military officials are saying little about what it could mean for the bases in Missouri. President Bush is proposing 60,000 to 70,000 US troops come back from bases in Europe and Asia to ones in the states over the next decade. So what does that mean for the two major military installations in Missouri?Whiteman Air Force Base spokesman Major Rob Palmer says anything that could happen won’t happen right away. And Palmer says he cannot comment on how many people Whiteman might get. Palmer says they are not keeping tight lips due to operational security reasons. Palmer says it’s because all the military installations across the country are going through the base realignment and closing process, known as BRAC. Fort Leonard Wood officials indicate similar concerns over BRAC.
