The Royals and White Sox waited through two rain delays lasting two hours and twenty minutes to finish their game Thursday afternoon. After the wait, the Royals lost 3-2. Both teams scored twice in the first inning—Joe Randa and Mike Sweeney drove in runs with base hits and Carl Everett hit a two-run home in the bottom of the first to tie it up. Ross Gload’s solo home run in the fourth inning gave the White Sox the lead and win. Rookie Jimmy Serrano got his first start and lost, despite pitching well. Serrano gave up all three runs off four hits and two walks. Kansas City dropped two of three in Chicago.
