The Royals scored three runs in the top of the third inning and were never heard from again, losing 9-3 to the White Sox in Chicago. Mike Sweeney, Abraham Nunez and Ruben Mateo all drove in runs to give Kansas City a 3-0 lead, but the advantage was short-lived as Chicago countered with a three-run homer from Carlos Lee in the bottom half of the inning. Royals’ starter Zack Greinke served up two-run homers to Paul Konerko in the fifth and Westphalia, Missouri native Joe Crede in the sixth inning. Crede’s blast ended Greinke’s day—he was charged with all seven runs and dropped to 4-9 on the season. The Royals have lost five in a row… On Tuesday, the Royals optioned 2003 American League Rookie of the Year Angel Berroa to Double-A Wichita and called up Andres Blanco. Berroa is hitting .249 and has 22 errors in 96 games.
