One of the Branson area’s leading attractions insists it does not discriminate, adding all are welcome at the theme park … but claims it has nothing to do with a news release touting a “Gay Weekend at Silver Dollar City.” According to Silver Dollar City officials, the news release is falsely claiming “thousands of gays and lesbians from all over the Midwest” will be able to attend the September 4th through 6th event at a “huge discount.” There is no discount planned and Silver Dollar City has nothing to do with the event. Representatives of the gay community in the area say they have nothing to do with the news release. An individual named Ron Mangum is claiming responsibility, and he insists the event will go on. Mangum is a man with a history of making discrimination complaints in several states under various names.
