Jeff Gordon won the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis yesterday, leading 122-of-161 laps. It was his fourth win at Indy and his fifth victory of the year to close ground on Jimmie Johnson. He trails by 97 points. Jamie McMurray of Joplin finished seventh, St. Louisan Rusty Wallace was 13th , Fenton native Ken Schrader was 19th and Kenny Wallace, who hails from St. Louis was 34th. McMurray moved up one spot in the points’ standings to 14th and Wallace jumped three spots to 17th. Under the new point system, the top ten drivers after race 26 will have their points erased and all ten will vie for the championship over the final ten races. With five races until the cutoff, Mc Murray is 109 points out of 10th place and Wallace is 268 out of 10th.
